He has watched her from afar…
Paul Reed has been raising children since he was a child himself, but he wouldn’t change his life, even if given an opportunity. That is, until one of his brothers says four little words that shake the foundation of his world. “She’s not a lesbian,” shouldn’t be quite so earth shattering, but suddenly the woman he loves is available, and he’ll do whatever it takes to win her over.
They call her Friday, and she’s hiding more than just her name...
Friday has worked in the Reeds’ tattoo parlor for four years. She’s become more than just an employee, and she loves being in the middle of something so wonderful. She treasures the way the Reeds live for one another, and she adores the way they take care of their family. She would do just about anything to be part of it, if not for the fact that she doesn’t deserve a family of her own. Or does she? Friday is punishing herself for her past, and by doing so, she pushes away the one man who could truly love her.
Separately, they’re strong. Together, they’re vulnerable. As a team, they rock.

Proving Paul Promise The Reed Brothers Series Book 5 edition by Tammy Falkner Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I think that very nicely sums up the Reed Brothers books by Tammy Falkner. "Proving Paul's Promise" contains so many gems, I think it would make good reading for someone trying to find a way out of darkness.
Once again, Falkner manages to bring the characters to life in such a way that it seems I am living the events with them. She pulls no punches, again, insisting that we think about the connections that create families, and the fact that sometimes, those connections change. And that fathers should take as much responsibility and action as mothers - "The true definition of manhood is doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done." In spite of everything we try to do, life is not all fun and roses. But if you truly love someone, you gather the little five minutes of roses, and when things turn rough, you get through them by remembering the roses.
In the end, every one of these stories has at its heart two people struggling to re-define themselves as part of a permanent pair. Despite the statistics, I think that this is a reasonable goal for people. Falkner manages to make her couples succeed, generally against some not uncommon odds. As Paul says - "She promised me she would love me forever when we married. She promised me we could weather any storm that comes our way, and we have. She can't promise me perfect, but she promised me her, and that's all I need." And I am sure, had the words come from her, they would have meant the same thing.
Ultimately, those sentences sum up what I have read of this series so far. I think they sum up nicely what is probably a successful approach to marriage.
Proving Paul's Promise is Paul and Friday's story in the continuing Reed Brothers series. Paul is the quintessential alpha male/protector/head of household/best oldest brother to ever have lived on paper. Paul's relationship with his little girl, Hayley, is just precious and heartwarming. One of my favorite scenes is when Paul is internalizing while fixing a pink bow for Hayley's hair during a dance recital. Paul proves you can be a fully evolved male without turning in your man card.
Paul's had a thing for Friday, who's worked in his tattoo shop for the last few years but was always under the assumption she was a lesbian, so he put her in the friend zone. But he shares a kiss with Friday and then he finds out she's not a lesbian....and Paul becomes a man on a mission.
As we get to know Friday, she's been a lost soul slowly finding her way back to the land of the living. Let's just say Friday's got some heavy baggage. She decides to become a surrogate for her two BFFs, Garrett and Cody. Paul's jealous but as Paul and Friday do the mating dance, he learns that she's a surrogate for her two friends. Friday also has a thing for Paul but witnessing how he randomly hooks up with the female clientele and his ex with benefits, Kelly, Fridays keeps her heart closed off.
With some coaching and insight from his brothers and Emily (Logan's girl), instead of breaking down her protective walls, he asks Friday if she'll let him in to live with her inside her walls. There are so many moments for the reader to have deep sighs that you just have to read Paul's story for yourself. I love the Reed Brothers series. They're so funny, sweet, kind and hot you'll melt after reading each of their story. The only one without his own story is Sam, Pete's twin. I can't wait!
Paul is the oldest Reed brother, he helped take care of his sick mother and brother, finished raising his brothers, and started a successful business. I have always been intrigued by Paul, because he was the backbone of his family and always seemed like a great father, so I was really excited to get to his book.
Friday has been working at Reed’s for years and is an honorary member of the Reed family. While most them see her as a sister, Paul has always seen Friday as the sexy, tattooed, pierced bombshell who dresses in sexy vintage clothes. For the longest time Paul had assumed Friday was a lesbian, and once he finds out she is not he can’t stop thinking about her.
Friday can’t even begin to count the many times she has lusted after Paul, but he is off limits. For one, she believes he is still dating his baby’s mother, Kelly. Friday grew up in foster care, and she refuses to be a catalyst in separating Paul and Kelly since they have Hayley together.
PPP begins with Friday volunteering to be a surrogate for her two friends and Paul deciding he has had enough and is finally going to make a move. Friday has graduated from NYU and is about to be homeless, so he offers to rent a room to her.
This story is sugary sweet, but I did enjoy it. First, I loved seeing Paul’s desire to protect and love Friday. She has never known unconditional love and doesn’t believe she deserves it, but Paul proves that she does.
While this story was predictable and had little angst, I enjoy that from this series. I have grown to love The Reed Brothers and even if it is a cheesy at certain points I still enjoy picking up with them. Like the other books we get to see all the brother’s and their partners. I love catching up with them. I love how this series is set a family that sticks together, looks out for one another, and takes in other’s that need help.
The first book will always be my favorite, but still recommend catching up with The Reed’s.
